1 - Pricing Example

For a short term access user: A trip under 30 minutes will not cost you any usage fees besides the system access fees. However, a longer trip will cost you usage fees.

Example for a 1 day access user:
Trip of 31 minutes: $5 (access fee) + $1.75 = $6.75
Trip of 46 minutes: $5 (access fee) + $1.75 + $3.90 = $9.75
Trip of 1 hour 5 minutes: $5 (access fee) + $1.75 + $3.00 + $3.00 = $12.75

BIXI was intended for short trips. Usage fees encourage frequent use for short periods of time.

Example for a member (using a BIXI key):

A trip under 45 minutes will not cost you any usage fees besides the system access fees. However, a longer trip will cost you usage fees.

With a one-year membership (excluding the $89 membership fee):

Trip of 46 minutes: $1.75
Trip of 1 hour 1 minute: $1.75 + $3.00 = $4.75
Trip of 1 hour 16 minutes: $1.75 + $3.00 + $3.00 = $7.75

BIXI was intended for short trips. Usage fees encourage frequent utilization for short periods of time.

2 - Are the first 30 minutes included only on the first trip I make with my short term access?

The first 30 minutes are always included for each trip you take.

3 - Are the first 45 minutes included only on the first trip I make with my membership?

The first 45 minutes are always included for each trip you take.

4 - I only want to use BIXI from time to time: can I do it without subscribing?

Yes. Different short-term access options are available at all 540 stations in the BIXI network. For more details, consult the Pricing section of our website.

5 - How do I subscribe to a membership?

The 1-year membership is offered online. If you do not have access to Internet, contact our customer service at 514-789-BIXI (2494) or at 1-877-820-2453. Please note that you need a VISA, MasterCard, or AMEX credit card to subscribe and that an email address will be requested. However, no security deposit will be charged to your credit card.

6 - How do I subscribe to a short-term access?

Short-term access is available at each BIXI pay station. Payment can be made using a VISA, MasterCard, or AMEX credit card. Please note that a security deposit of $100 per bike is charged to your credit card for a ten (10) day period.

7 - How will I be billed for my usage fees?

For BIXI members, usage fees (if applicable) for trips longer than 45 minutes are billed once a month, on the 20th day of each month. You will receive an email each month letting you know when your online statement is available. Your statement, which details your trip charges, can be viewed at My BIXI space. For short-term access, the system access fees and usage fees (if applicable) will be billed to your credit card at the end of the chosen period, or when the bike is returned after the 24-hour period has expired.

8 - Is it possible to subscribe if I don't have a credit card?

No. BIXI memberships require a credit card to be associated to the user’s account. BIXI must ensure that all bikes are returned by requesting a security deposit, which cannot be paid in cash at the pay station. Managing usage fees by credit card is also the most ecological and efficient option. However, the additional member option may allow you to subscribe without owning a credit card. The holder of a credit card may accept the fees for using the service. They will need to complete the subscription form, click the Additional Member button and enter your personal information. System access fees and usage fees will be charged to their credit card.

9 - What does a subscription with an additional member imply?

Different BIXI memberships have been created to allow one person to be financially responsible for several members. Thus, the owner of the credit card pays the subscription fees and usage fees of all additional members in one single transaction. This person becomes responsible for the account and financial transactions of all the members on their account. That is what we call Additional Members. The same procedure applies as for the 1-year membership. One person may add several additional members. All BIXI keys will be sent to one address. The person responsible will have to assign a key number to each user and activate the keys on their personalized site. All user fees will be charged to their credit card and they will be responsible for the account. If one of the additional members loses a bike, the fees will be charged to the account holder’s credit card. At the end of the month, the account holder will receive a statement with usage fee details for each additional member.

10 - My BIXI key has been lost or stolen. What do I do?

Contact customer service at 514-789-BIXI (2494) or at 1-877-820-2453 as quickly as possible to deactivate your BIXI key and prevent fraudulent use. You can ask to receive a new one. When a new BIXI key is sent, a $5 charge is applied.

11 - My BIXI key is broken. What do I do?

Your BIXI key can be replaced. Contact our customer service at 514-789-BIXI (2494) or at 1-877-820-2453 to notify us.
