On July 30th, 2010, Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, launched the latest addition to the BIXI franchise. London is adding its name to an impressive list of world metropolises including Montreal, Melbourne, Boston, Washington and Minneapolis that have adopted the BIXI public bike system as an active and environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional modes of urban transport.

Grande Premiere: BIXI available on an American University Campus!

Today is the official launch of a 32 BIXI bike system available at four stations on Washington State University campus, located in Pullman, Washington. The system will be accessible to the 18,000 students of this university, and they will even have the possibility of using their student card as a BIXI key. This is BIXI’s first implementation on a university site and its second on a private campus.

Going to the NASCAR race by BIXI? Use the depot station at parc Jean-Drapeau!

2010’s biggest Canadian NASCAR race is happening at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend, and we’ll be installing a depot station for you to use throughout the event, from August 27 to 29 inclusively.

Please note that the depot station at the Jean-Drapeau metro station will be the only BIXI station available for travel to the NASCAR race. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
